Ten dollars on meat today
There goes the last of the pay

Veggies are cheap but avocado not
Three dollars sixty is all I've got

Shouldn't have got those strawberries
But I love breakfast with some cherries

My last few dollars as the rest has gone
Spent on food and travel now done

And Christmas is coming up so fast
Presents to buy everyone not last

The pay will come next week so far
Forget the idea of buying a car

I'll be home tending to the plants
Sitting and reading my books rants

Playing with crystals which I have bought
With money I earned for which I fought

I look around me and see where it went
Shoes and bags and movies we spent

I like nice things but now I get none
At least I am here with a my loved one
