Testing animals often killing them
Breeding them for experiments
Dissecting them to learn what we already know

I had a huge problem in University
With Zoology 101
Practical days
I refused to go
I withdrew from the unit
I withdrew from the course

Why are we still using out-dated
Overrated
Techniques and practices
To generate food

More grain is needed to feed the cow
And land for a cow to live
When the land and the grain could feed
So many more than the cow ever could

It is not economical
The price is astronomical
The cultural phenomenon
Of waste and abuse

Production lines
Slaughter houses
Milking sheds
Out-dated and over rated

Endless alternatives
To poor treatment
Culture and convenience
Are what you and I buy

I don't see this ending any time soon
Ignorance of millions
Uneducated choices bred through generations
Do it yourself

I'm appalled
I'm annoyed
I'm confused

We love animals
We befriend animals
We slaughter animals
We torched animals

Who do my choices affect?
What can I do to make a real difference?
