Staying with my darling friend who has just had a reprieve
from the recent news she did receive.
The news was a tiny lump in her right breast.
So off to the doctor for appropriate tests.
And sure enough, yes, it was the dreaded “Big C”
So, off to hospital fairly rapidly
For more tests followed by a right mastectomy
But 2 weeks later lymph and bone scans now all clear – Yipeeeeee!!!!!!!
Time to think and time to reflect
On the fragility of our lives
We can fly in aeroplanes, we can dive from very low or high
We can drive on freeways at 110km, in so many ways we can fly.
We can be as careful as we can try
But we cannot dodge our fate, it seems to be written in the sky.
If people who did good were rewarded with a long, long life
And people who did not, did early die.
That’s not how it works, it seems to be written in our genes.
Well, at least to me, that is how it seems
It’s a journey, and an exciting one too, because nothing is predictable
Each day is precious, and should not be treated as expendible.
