Summer Time Lament

Don't like summer's endless heat,
Swollen ankles and sweaty feet,
I whinge, I complain, I groan,
'Where is the cool change?' I moan.

Big spider races across the floor,
No breeze comes through the open door,
Fans can't cope, we're dripping sweat,
Isn't that cool change coming yet?

Shiny beetles crawl through my hair,
Sweaty legs stick to the vinyl chair,
The lawn is brown, the flowers die,
'When is that cool change coming?' I cry.

Insects swarm to every light,
Ants invade, mosquitoes bite;
At last we hear cool weather is heading our way,
Great news! I just couldn't stand another hot day!
