Potato Classes

by James Walton (follow)
Spudders we were called
hill clay rabbits dirt tumblers
aunt Astrid sewed and threw,
a 40 kilo bag of Dutch Creams
when eight months (and a half) pregnant
winning the picker and packer prize,

our cousin Tomasz always
had those girl catching moves
inherited in the womb,
a saucy swing of hip
an entice of shoulder shrug
and a smile so big as round the bay,

he could always find a room
in the difference between
Toolangi Delight or Russet Nooksack.
