Bills, they just keep coming
Water, gas, electricity, rates, rego, mobile and internet.
I have no income, and yet
I am supposed to keep paying these as well as my food
I have never accessed Centrelink payments before
But after quitting work, that is now finished Ė I have gone to their door
I now even have a health care card
this is going to make my life financially much less hard.
My prescriptions today cost $6.10 each instead of $25.00 or more
My car registration is going to go from more than $720.00
To $160 or thereabouts
Small saving over a year, but it all counts.
I never realized, after all these years
That this was available Ė cheers
It was worth giving up work
To relieve the pressure, and all of the talk
Iíve been doing it for so long
Management roles, committees, conferences and years
of attending meaningless planning and governance meetings
Which changed every time a government had a new idea.
Now at this stage
I can forget setting the alarm to drive for an hour or two
To a job which I can do
I used to enjoy it, but is the stress now worth it?
I think not
I would rather be at home, at the end of the phone.
If someone wants some costumes sewn
I can do that, I donít have a professional reputation to own.
I am sick of the fake self importance
Of people in top jobs
The importance and credence which goes with management
Iíve donít that for so long, it is hardly worth a cent
Attending meetings, standing up and giving opinions
on government policy and an invitation for input.
Itís all ephemeral, as soon as policy or government changes
So does my input and my wages.
