Time seems to moving real fast
All of a sudden it is only 8 weeks until l travel overseas again
I have my pack and I’ve made my list
I’ve got prescriptions for the medications I need to take before I go
I’m looking forward to getting back into the air
Flying for 28 hours to get there
There is a zone that I have to go to in my body and mind
To be able to sleep on a long haul flight would be too kind.
I know it won’t happen, so I just put myself there
In this ‘other world’ which is way in the air.
If I happen to doze, that’s a blessing I suppose
But when I come to, what do I do?
Maybe put in my earphones and put a movie on
Maybe go to the bathroom, maybe listen to a song.
Maybe push the call button and ask for a drink
Let’s face it, time is irrelevant, better not think
Of what time it may be if I was ‘home’
There is no such thing as time when you are flying through zones
One way you are heading into permanent night
And the other, daylight is your permanent hike.
I like to wash my face and clean my teeth
Before the rest of the passengers wake from their sleep
No queue for the toilet, this is a dance
Because when the breakfast cart comes down you’ve lost your chance.
I must admit, I love aeroplane food
A lot of people don’t, but I find it good
There is something which is a little haunting
Of so little space on the tray table, and trying to balance it all – very daunting.
One of those things that becomes a winning challenge
Because there is nowhere to escape
And you cannot move until your dishes are taken and your tray table stowed
Congratulations you should owed.
Ah well it is getting much closer, I don’t want to wish my life away, no sir.
I am looking forward to catching up with some friends and family
And also to a new land which I have yet to see.
So two countries in a very short time – that is fine –this journey is mine.
