Two Old Shells
Authorís own photo

Smooth shells lie on the sandy beach,
Faded and worn smooth,
After years in the sea
Being tossed against jagged rocks,
Overdosed with burning sun,
They have lost their vitality
Colour, pattern and individuality,
Just as some people do
When buffeted by
The rigours of life,
The hurt and pain,
The acid criticism of their fellow man.
